Beloved UUCPA Community, A deep dive into UUCPA history last spring revealed the inspiring ministry we are so proud of. However, it also uncovered the failure to uphold ministerial ethics by Rev. Bill Jacobsen during his tenure as UUCPA’s senior minister from 1974 and 1990.
In response to this knowledge, UUCPA is planning a session called “Healing Past Hurts and Moving Forward”. We’ll be bringing in an outside facilitator skilled in this area (Rev. Sarah Moldenhauer-Salazar), but Amy, Cat, myself, and other Board members will be in attendance. Our goals:
- create a safe space for people to share their experiences of this time at UUCPA (or during similar times at other churches)
- acknowledge the failure of UUCPA to stop these breaches of trust while they were happening
- discuss how we tell this history, along with the policies and practices that can ensure that this does not recur at UUCPA
The session will be held on Zoom on Monday, March 27th, at 6:30 pm. There may be future sessions if determined by the group to be needed.
