Holiday Events 2022

Broceliande, Friday, December 2nd, Main Hall, 7:00 pm.  Celtic/Early Music ensemble Broceliande will present a joyous concert to welcome in the Winter featuring traditional dances, carols, and ballads of the season on Celtic harp, cello, guitars, recorders, nyckelharpa, octave mandolin, flute, hardanger cello d’amore, and oboe!  Broceliande is Margaret Davis, Kristoph Klover and Kris Yenney.  Tickets available at the door, or in advance.

Undie Sunday, Sunday, December 4th & 11th. Undie Sunday is the time we ask everyone to bring a new set of underwear and a pair of warm gloves, socks, or hat to give to unhoused people.  For them, these things are difficult to obtain and are particularly helpful during the cold months of the year.  Our gifts will be distributed through LifeMoves.  Coordinator: Kristi Iverson

Main Hall Holiday Decorating, Sunday, December 4th, Main Hall, 6:30 – 8:00 pm.  Perform a small service to warm up the holiday season.  Join Rev. Cat and the Senior High Youth Group to decorate the Main Hall for the winter holiday season.  We will hang lights and decorations and eat cider and cookies. All are welcome.  

Holiday Bazaar & Bake Sale, Sunday, December 11h, Fireside Room, 10:30 am –1pm.  The return of the Annual Holiday Bazaar & Bake Sale.  You will be able to purchase some unique holiday decorative items and yummy baked goods.  All sales benefit UUCPA.  Coordinators:  Jeff Cashdollar & Dora Fishman

Aurora Singers Holiday Concert, Saturday, December 17th, Main Hall, 7:00 pm.  Doors Open at 6:30 pm – come early!(Ticket purchase required; link for buying tickets through Paypal) Concert is a benefit to UUCPA.

No-Rehearsal Christmas Pageant , Sunday, December 18th, Main Hall, 9:30; Main Hall & online, 11:00 am.  We rejoice in the everyday miracles of the season, marking winter solstice, telling the story of Hanukah– which begins tonight–and inviting all who wish to play a part to help make the story of Jesus’s birth come to life. Community Carol Singing, Sunday, December 18th, Main Patio, 10:30 am. Come sing Christmas carols in four-part harmony between the two services.  We’ll provide songbooks with a dozen classic Christmas carols.  All ages are welcome.  You can bring your own guitar or other instrument and play along, or just come and sing!

Winter Solstice, Wednesday, December 21st, Main Hall & online, 7:00 pm.  Join us on this longest night of the year!  Our simple ceremony lasts under an hour, and is followed by abundant food – (cheese, dips, pies, nuts.) and hot mulled wine and hot cider.  Just come – food provided.  Our solstice ceremony includes meditative music, readings, and all of us lighting candles to celebrate the return of light.  This year we return to holding our Solstice Ceremony in person in the Main Hall, although of course, we conclude by burning a yule log outdoors in our fire pit. Children and adults are welcome.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, Saturday, December 24th, Main Hall, 6:30; Main Hall & online, 8:00 pm.  We welcome Christmas with stories, carols and special music, and candles.  Come sing the familiar songs that are always powerful and experience the magic of candlelight in the darkness.
