Announcing the Justice Partner Slate for FY25_26

The Action Council is pleased to announce the new slate of proposed Justice Partners for FY25-26, to be voted on at the April 27 Annual Meeting.  You can find the list of proposed Partners here.  There are some changes of note:

1.    We propose replacing Acterra with Canopy as the environmental Justice Partner, based on a nomination from the Green Sanctuary Committee.

2.    We propose adding a second LGBTQIA+-focused organization, in addition to Outlet.  The new organization nominated by the Welcoming Congregation Committee, Colectivo Acción Latina de Ambiente (ALA), focuses on Latino/a LBGTQIA+ youth.  Please see the description on the slate.

3.    We propose replacing Hotel de Zink*** (see explanation below) with United Effort, the Justice Partner recently selected to replace CHAC (Community Health Awareness Council) for April 2025.

*** Update regarding Hotel de Zink

You will notice that after many, many years of hosting Hotel de Zink each September, it is no longer on the Justice Partner slate for the coming year.  Later in 2025 (specific date to be determined) LifeMoves will be transitioning from the rotating shelter Hotel De Zink program, working with the Faith-Based community, to the new transitional housing site program in Palo Alto that will serve both single adults & families.   The new site may open by late summer, but that is not certain.  Once this transitional housing site is open, Hotel de Zink will cease to operate.  As such, you will see that we have replaced Hotel de Zink with United Effort as the proposed partner for September.  Should Hotel de Zink still be needed in September, UUCPA will host it as usual, but we will not be giving a plate donation to them in September.  The Action Council has funds left from last year to cover their expenses.  We will have more specific information later this summer.
