Sci-Fi / Fantasy Discussion Group Meets Oct 19

For our October 19, 2022 meeting, we agreed to watch the movie “Blade Runner”, the original 1982 film. The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Discussion Group was meeting via Zoom before it was cool! Lovers of science fiction and fantasy, at UUCPA and beyond, have been getting together online to talk about books, movies, and television episodes chosen by the group, every other month since early 2019.
We meet every other month, on the 3rd Wednesdays via Zoom, 7-8:30 p.m.

2nd Sunday Lunch – Pasta and Salad Bar, Sun Oct 9 ~noon

Join us Sunday, October 9 after the 2nd service for Second Sunday Lunch (Pasta and Salad Bar), a home-cooked, nutritious, delicious meal for a very reasonable donation. We go through the buffet line outside the kitchen door onto the back parking lot, and eat at one of the tables set up on the lawn nearby. On October 9, the temperature will be in the 70’s – you might want a sweater.

Campus Workday & Potluck – Sat Oct 1

Are you interested in getting together in person, in community with other UUCPA folks? Come to the work day on Saturday, October 1 from 9 am-noon and stay for the potluck. Or if you don’t have time for the work day, just come for the lunchtime potluck, noon – 1ish pm. If you don’t have a side dish to share, come to the potluck anyway, we should have plenty of food.

Our online gallery features photographs that UUCPA member Jack Owicki has taken in the Palo Alto Baylands as meditation and psychotherapy during the COVID pandemic.

Jack is a Docent Naturalist at the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and Stanford’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.  He photographically documents his experiences in nature. … read more.

September 27 Session of White Folks Dismantling White Supremacy Coming Up!

This coming Tuesday is the next session of White Folks Dismantling White Supremacy. In this session we will be learning about three notable Black women – the mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin – through a TED Radio Hour interview with sociologist and author Anna Malaika Tubbs. Come join us and learn how these three women helped shape not only their sons, but American history!

Join UUCPA’s Membership Engagement Coordinator, John Wright to learn about making UUCPA more welcoming. Even if you’re an introvert, even if you’re not an usher or greeter, no matter what, you can provide the kind of welcome everyone wants to receive when they come to a new place for what may be a very new experience: a Unitarian Universalist service or event.
