There is no Sunday school due to the Independence Day holiday today. However, if you are in town this weekend, it’ll be a great service for kids to participate in. The service will consist mostly of music that we’ll make together (with the help of wonderful guest pianist Ihang Lin): singing rounds, singing in harmony, drumming along or playing whatever instrument you know how to play (bring them!).
I and a couple of song leaders will teach you all the songs as we go, because our theme is Singing for Democracy, based on the conviction that to make a thriving democratic nation, people need to connect with each other, and that making music together is a great foundation for those connections.
(This also makes it very much an RE week, because our educational goals for our kids include having fun, feeling part of a community, learning skills associated with liberal religion [like singing!], and being prepared to become a UU adult one day if they choose to–all of which relate to this service.)
Looking forward to singing with you,
Amy
