Meet a board member – Kevin Crane

What are three interesting facts about you?

  • It seems I am one of the few people living here who was born here, too (in Mountain View).
  • I spent my childhood in San Jose, Germany, Spain and went to college in the Midwest. But I have decided that the Bay Area is the best place to live.
  • I like to cook. I find that cooking is an outlet where I can express my creativity.

Why did you join UUCPA?

Initially, I was drawn in by the music as my wife is a member of the choir. Since then, I learned more about UUA and its principals which appealed to me. I have also connected personally with many in the congregation by joining several committees.

What made you join the Board?

When I joined the Finance Committee, I learned about the Church’s finances and how it operates. Soon after, I was asked to join the Board as the Finance VP and participate in the governance of the Church. I am able to use my education and work background in Finance to contribute back to UUCPA. We financially survived the COVID pandemic and now we are looking forward to upgrading the campus to be a more modern and functional for the congregation. I would encourage anyone to take a bit of time to join the Board. You might find it as rewarding as I do!

What is something you would say to the congregation?

This Church is like a second home to many of us. For a home to thrive, its members need to participate; care for one another; and voice their opinion. What better way to do this than to volunteer your time to one of the many committees on campus?

The Board meets once month at 7pm on usually the fourth Wednesday. You are very welcome to attend in person or on zoom. You can attend by emailing our Board President, Mayo at board@uucpa.org and asking for the Zoom link.
