Today we are celebrating Earth Day a little late (April was packed) and reconsidering one species that we often regard as having no useful role in our ecosystem. What it contributes to the global community seems to be far outweighed by what it takes. Of the six great extinctions in the history of life on Earth, the latest is caused largely by this one species. We can’t help but think that the rest of the planetary ecosystem might be better off without it. That species is, of course, homo sapiens sapiens, and the words, music, and rituals of today’s service are devoted to helping us to heal our attitude about it.

Members of the Green Sanctuary Committee join Amy in leading the service, including Barbara Smith-Thomas, and as guest Worship Associate, Jesse Schwab. Come feel the joy and hope of being an integral part of something beautiful: our planetary ecosystem.

Worship leader: Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern

Worship Associate: Jesse Schwab

Special music: Yuri Liberzon, guitar
