Video preview of this Sunday’s service–with mystery guest!
Equity. We declare that every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with dignity, love, and compassion. We covenant to use our time, wisdom, attention, and money to build and sustain fully accessible and inclusive communities.
That’s a quote from our (Unitarian Universalists’) new statement of shared values: equity, interdependence, justice, generosity, pluralism, and transformation, all centered on love. The delegates to the General Assembly approved them in June, and Amy will introduce each in one of the services of the next couple of months.
Today’s theme is equity: specifically, the vast chasm between our “savage inequalities” and the equity most members of our communities want us to practice. If we close that gap somewhat, many more of us will flourish–so how can we get there?
And–this is of special interest to children–we’ll meet someone who helps us remember all of those shared values: a Jetpig named Love!
Sunday School begins next week, but there will be child care, as always, for children who want to leave after the Time for All Ages.
Worship leader: Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern
Special music: Steven Chanan, piano
