What Service Dogs Have to Teach Us

You may have seen service dogs around, especially Thida’s service dog. All you may know is you’re not allowed to touch him and the dog looks serious. Yet dogs are emotional and don’t do anything unless it’s rewarding. How can a service dog find their work fun? What can dogs teach us about joy? What can the life of service dogs teach us about work, how to find acts of service we love and life itself?

Thida Cornes (she/her) has had service dogs since 2008 from Canine Companions (www.canine.org). A member of UUCPA since 2012, she is currently a Worship Associate and was a member of the Board. She was elected in November as a Trustee for the Mountain View Los Altos High School Board.
