Four years ago, many of us participated in Trans Experience and Spirituality, which incorporated sessions of the “Trans Inclusion in Congregations” program created by the Transforming Hearts Collective. Now the Transforming Hearts Collective is offering two webinars on building trans justice and safety in the wide community. I (Amy) will be there–I hope I’ll see you there too!
As you undoubtedly know, political and legislative attacks on trans people have escalated in recent years. Today, fully half of U.S. states have banned best-practice medical care for trans youth, among scores of equally repressive legislation. It is a terrifying time for trans people and their loved ones. As committed members of a Welcoming Congregation, we are called to do what we can to mitigate this terrible trend, for love of the many trans, non-binary people, and family members of trans and non-binary people, in our congregation, and for so many other reasons.
These free webinars, led by the Transforming Hearts Collective in partnership with Side With Love, UUSC, and Pink Haven Coalition, will equip attendees to understand the targeted political and legislative attack that trans/nonbinary people are currently facing, gain tools to advocate for trans rights, and ensure that their congregations are welcoming and safe spaces for trans/nonbinary people and our families in this moment. One is geared toward people in legislatively hostile areas; the other, on October 1, is geared toward people in legislatively protective areas, such as California.
The main content of the webinars will be recorded and shared with registrants, so folks who are interested in receiving a recording are encouraged to register.
