Welcome to the Menlo Park Film Discussion Group! Bruce England, the group’s current facilitator, has been active at UUCPA for several years, and the group and congregation are teaming up and making UUCPA its institutional home. UUCPA had a film discussion group in the not-too-distant past, so this is a welcome return of an opportunity many people enjoyed.
On July 1, 2024, we’ll discuss 45 Years, a romantic drama starring Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay as a long-married couple whose upcoming 45th anniversary celebration is complicated by their receiving an unexpected, potentially life-changing letter.
Everyone watches the movie ahead of time on their own schedule, and the hour-long discussion takes place over Zoom on the first Monday evening of the month. Group members add to the list of movies, the only strictures being that they must be available on Kanopy and be free. Then, each month, the group votes on the next movie.
