The work of organizing BIPOC Unitarian Universalists through Diverse Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM) Bay Area continues to grow in leaps and bounds! At the Spring Retreat in May at First UU Oakland, over 30 people attended, representing 15 congregations, over three time zones, coming together to do the work of building beloved community within and among UU BIPOC folks.
DRUUMM is Unitarian Universalism’s oldest and largest People of Color collective: a front door for new people and a spiritual home that enriches our liberal religious tradition.
Rev. Kevin Alan Mann, the convener, says: “The vision of DRUUMM Bay Area is to provide monthly meetings on zoom every 1st Monday of the month at 6 p.m., and quarterly rotating in-person gathering spaces for Bay Area BIPOC Unitarian Universalists and BIPOC friends that centers community, with elements that focus on connection: with self, with each other, our church communities, and beyond.”
On August 17, DRUUMM Bay Area holds its Strategic Planning Summer Retreat, both in-person at First Unitarian, Oakland, and online. The goal is to have at least two BIPOC UUs from every Bay Area congregation represented, and we would love to send more than two from UUCPA! Please reach out to Rev. Kevin for more information, and/or here at UUCPA, contact Amy.
