For our October 19, 2022 meeting, we agreed to watch the movie “Blade Runner”, the original 1982 film. The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Discussion Group was meeting via Zoom before it was cool! Lovers of science fiction and fantasy, at UUCPA and beyond, have been getting together online to talk about books, movies, and television episodes chosen by the group, every other month since early 2019.
We meet every other month, on the 3rd Wednesdays via Zoom, 7-8:30 p.m.
The Brown Bag Books group meets via Zoom, year-round (except in July and August) on the first Tuesday of each month from noon to 2 pm. Monthly sessions are always lively and enjoyable, everyone brings a sense of humor.

Join us Sunday, October 9 after the 2nd service for Second Sunday Lunch (Pasta and Salad Bar), a home-cooked, nutritious, delicious meal for a very reasonable donation. We go through the buffet line outside the kitchen door onto the back parking lot, and eat at one of the tables set up on the lawn nearby. On October 9, the temperature will be in the 70’s – you might want a sweater.
Are you interested in getting together in person, in community with other UUCPA folks? Come to the work day on Saturday, October 1 from 9 am-noon and stay for the potluck. Or if you don’t have time for the work day, just come for the lunchtime potluck, noon – 1ish pm. If you don’t have a side dish to share, come to the potluck anyway, we should have plenty of food.
The next Sci Fi Fantasy Discussion Group meeting is October 19, 2022, 7:00-8:30 pm on Zoom only. We’ll be discussing the film Blade Runner, by Andy Weir, the original 1982 version.

In this session we will be learning about three notable Black women – the mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin – through a TED Radio Hour interview with sociologist and author Anna Malaika Tubbs. Come join us and learn how these three women helped shape not only their sons, but American history!
