The 2027 Ministerial Search

Our current minister, Peter Farriday, is an interim minister. The UUCPA Minister Search committee is leading the search for our next settled minister. We will be posting regular updates here about where we are in the Minister Search process. If you are interested in learning more about the process as a whole, please take a look at the UUA Settled Ministry Search Calendar. We are currently in Phase 3.

As of July 30, 2026, we are quickly learning the details of how to search for a new Unitarian Universalist minister. We are not looking at candidates yet – that comes in January. Then our job as a search committee is to review the candidates who are interested in UUCPA, and to present a single candidate to meet the congregation later this spring.

So what’s happening now? Before we hear from any candidates, we’ll be hearing from you. What are the strengths and challenges of our congregation? Your input will help us create a portfolio of UUCPA to share with prospective ministers. Look forward to surveys and small group meetings this fall.

As a congregation, we don’t think about our national organization very often, but the search committee is getting lots of support from Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) representatives to help us efficiently accomplish the many tasks involved in finding our next minister.

In July, UUA hosted a 2-day retreat where we learned in detail about how to conduct the search and the timeline we will follow. We have also selected roles and assigned tasks.

Edie will be running meetings as our Search Committee Chair.
Jane is arranging a workshop for the congregation and is helping with meeting minutes.
Harry is our treasurer and is working on a survey for UUCPA friends and members.
Castor will be on the negotiating team working out contract details with our minister-to-be.
Meag-gan will organize all the focus groups and small groups to receive your input.
Laura is drafting our congregational record and collecting documents that candidates will review.
Maricia is in charge of communications, our web profile, and helping with meeting minutes.

We are coming to know each other more and more each meeting, and finding we all have a lot of energy for doing the work that will lead to UUCPA’s next minister.
